The Dust Cover

For this project, we had to create a dust cover from a book, and I chose the first Dune. The texture of the back colour is like sand to reproduce the book’s main idea. At first, the back texture was all over the cover, but I changed it by adding black to the spine and at the front. This helps to make things different and make the viewer take a break on the brown sand.
The title’s typeface expresses the book’s or movie’s motion. Adding a black stroke around the white fill emphasizes the title and balances it with the black rectangle at the top of the cover.
The challenge with this project was to fit so much information into a dust cover while maintaining enough balance with the type and design.
